Dr Mickel began his medical career as a GP Principle in 1996. Frustrated by the conveyor belt nature of general practice he left and developed Mickel Therapy for people suffering from fatigue conditions such as CFS and ME.

 

He returned to mainstream medicine after 10 years and worked as a General Practitioner specialising in Emergency Medicine in the Emergency Department at Dr Gray’s Hospital Elgin.

 

It was while providing healthcare in general practice during the Covid-19 pandemic that he realised that what studies had suggested all along were accurate. More than 90% of conditions presenting to a General Practitioner can be handled safely and effectively without the need for face to face contact. Instead, remote consultation by phone and video can provide a very safe and effective service in the hands of an experienced general practitioner.

 

Dr Mickel continues to work as an NHS locum in the north of Scotland. He shares the frustration of the population in their difficulties accessing an under funded and under staffed NHS Primary Care service and so he decided to provide an easily accessible, private and remote general practice service.
